Delmer Montgomery, age 75, of Bayou Lane, Salt Lick, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington. He was born February 9, 1941, in Magoffin County, a son of the late Troy and Hazel Watson Montgomery. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mae Maze, Maxine Price and Jewell Conley, and four brothers, Billy, Homer, Burl, and Chalmer Montgomery. He is survived by his wife, Donna Gay Brown Montgomery; one daughter, Troye Jean Shannon of Georgetown; one stepson, Donnie Manley of Georgetown; four grandsons, Iann, Evan, and Isaiah Shannon and Justin Moody; two great grandchildren; two step daughters, Tina Clem of Jessamine County and Sherrie Chapman of Salt Lick; and three step grandchildren, Jolla Clem, Martina and Justin Chapman. He is also survived by two brothers, Casper Montgomery of Salt Lick and Kenneth Montgomery of Orange Beach, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews. Delmer moved to Bath County with his family at five years of age and graduated from Owingsville High School. He served in the U. S. Army from 1960 1963 during the Berlin Crisis. He was self-employed in auto body paint and repair in Georgetown and retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot in Richmond. Delmer loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends. He will be greatly missed by all. Visitation is noon Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with a memorial service immediately following at 1 p.m. with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating. Morehead American Legion Post 126 will present full military honors at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Corbie Ellington Morehead American Legion Post 126, P. O. Box 58, Morehead, KY 40351.
