Delia King Allen, age 90, of Allen Avenue, Morehead, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2016, at her home. Born September 24, 1925, in West Monroe, Louisiana, a daughter of Arthur and Cuba Weston King, she was preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers and sisters. Delia's husband of 56 years, Hubert Lee 'Hoodie' Allen, whom she wed February 17, 1957, passed away January 31, 2014. She is survived by three children, Joseph Spencer (Donna) Mann of Pensacola, Florida, Hubert Lee Allen, Jr., of Morehead, and Barbara (Jay) Cornett of Morehead; two grandchildren, Joseph Spencer Mann III and Robert Allen Mann; three great grandchildren, Tyler Dixon Mann, Gabrielle Mann, and Spencer Allen Mann; one brother-in-law, Robert C. Allen of Lexington; extended family; and friends. Delia also leaves behind her devoted caregivers, Missy Davis and Linda McKinney, who provided special love and care, and the loyal employees of Allen's IGA. Delia and Hoodie were well known for their community support (especially downtown Morehead) and for charitable contributions to local civic organizations and educational institutions. She and Hoodie enjoyed entertaining in their home, traveling with family and friends, golfing, boating, and fishing. Delia was a longtime member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Morehead. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Merry P. Jones and William Alexander Allen presiding. A family graveside service will follow. Pallbearers: John (Skip) Holley, Jackie Holley, Mike Adkins, Jay Cornett, Stanley Messer, Glenn Tuttle, Jim Allen, and Bill Allen. Visitation is 11a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Claire Hospice, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351, STAR (Saving the Animals of Rowan) P. O. Box 454, Morehead, KY 40351, or PETT (Preventing Euthanasia through Transport), 2450 Ryan Road, Wallingford, KY 41093.
