Obituary

Defford Alan McDaniel, 55, of Wallingford, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born March 2, 1957, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, a son of June Mabry McDaniel of Elliott County, Kentucky, and the late Dempsey McDaniel. In addition to his mother, Defford is survived by his wife, Retha Simmons McDaniel, whom he married August 23, 1975; one son, Joshua McDaniel and Brenna of Wallingford, Kentucky; one daughter, Misstie Pennington and Buddy of Wallingford, Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Blake Pennington, McKade Pennington, and Alyssa McDaniel. Other survivors include three brothers, Dale McDaniel and Jack McDaniel, both of Elliott County, Kentucky, and Billy McDaniel of Wallingford, Kentucky; two sisters, Diana Cunningham of Belleville, Michigan, and Sandy Rose of Elliott County, Kentucky; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Defford was the owner of McDaniel's Excavating and McDaniel's Market. He also enjoyed his cattle and his Yorkies. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Fox Valley Community Church on KY 1013, Muses Mill Road, in Fleming County, with Brother Tom Redmon and Brother Jason Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the McDaniel Cemetery in Wallingford. Pallbearers: John Simmons, Chris Sorrell, Jamie McDaniel, Wendell McDaniel, Mitchell McDaniel, Matt Harris, Jonathon Harris, B. J. McDaniel, Chad Cunningham, and Chris Cunningham Honorary pallbearers: Hershell Ison and Rick Nickles Visitation is after 3 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
