Deanna Lynn Elkins Howard, age 68, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023, at her residence.

Born September 2, 1955, in Logan County, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Leonard Elkins and Nina Eden Elkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Kaye Elkins May, and two brothers, Danny Elkins and Brook Elkins.

She is survived by one son, Joseph Howard of Morehead; one daughter, Mary Howard Marcum and husband Paul of Elizabeth, Indiana; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Cantrell, Chase Cantrell, Savannah Cantrell, Elizabeth Marcum-Schramke (Brennann), and Michael Marcum; one great granddaughter, Eleanorae Schramke; and companion, BJ Jordan of Mt. Sterling.

Other survivors include one brother, Claude Elkins of Indianapolis, Indiana; one sister, Glenna Lunsford of Morehead; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.

She was a former assembly line worker at various factories, nursing assistant at St. Claire Regional Medical Center, and a custodian at Morehead State University. Deanna had a zest for living and a sense of adventure. She will be loving remembered and missed by all who knew her.

Private services will be held at a later date.
