David Ewill Wescott, age 66, of Lexington, Kentucky, a beloved son, husband, father, and grandfather, who was a passionate truckdriver, passed away Monday, October 5, 2026, in Lewis County while working.
Born June 23, 1960, in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, David is survived by his dear mother, Rita Wescott of Lexington; his loving wife of 38 years, Jayne Anne Smith Wescott, whom he wed August 30, 1988; three devoted children, Robyn Gabbard of Lexington, Nathaniel Eric Wescott of Morehead, and Brittany Nicole Wescott of Lawrenceburg; two precious grandchildren, Jaylen Prater and TorryAnne Prater; and one treasured great-grandson, Kylan Jones Prater, as well as extended family and friends.
David, Dave, Dad, Daddy, Bupaw. Before he could (legally) drive a truck, he was actively enjoying the trucker’s life. He attended truck driving school in 1986 and got his first job hauling lightbulbs for Harold Ives (or General Electric). He drove for them from 1988 until 2010. Switching gears, he then drove for R&R Trucking hauling chemicals and last for Nelson Brothers LLC hauling chemicals to rock quarries.
When he wasn’t on the road, he was with family and friends. Be it camping at Cave Run or Land Between the Lakes, or at the racetracks in Bristol or Daytona, and even the odd concert here and there. When he was resting at home, he was a loving and caring father and husband, and always worked hard to provide for his family. He was a fierce and loyal friend, and would give the shirt off his back if you needed it. He later became a doting and fun grandfather and recently great-grandfather (or Bupaw as they call him). You could always find him smuggling sweets and Mt. Dew to all the grandkids, and Tootsie Pops for teething mouths. He will be greatly missed and cherished by all those who love him and knew the man he was.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mark Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Slaty Point Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tony Glover, Dan Kelly, Gerald Conn, Mike Conn, Pat Conn, and Jaylen Prater.
Visitation for David Wescott will be from 1 p.m. until the service at 2 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
