David Elwood Spenlau, age 74, of Kodak, Tennessee, formerly of Carter County, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021, at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Born September 10, 1946, in Covington, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Harkins Henry Spenlau and Oddress Blankenship Spenlau Cooper . In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles "Bubby" Cooper.
David is survived by his wife of 49 years, Julia Faye Buckler Spenlau, whom he married December 17, 1971; two sons, Ron Spenlau and wife Teresa, and Christopher Spenlau, all of Kodak, Tennessee; one brother, James Paul Cooper and wife Libby; three sisters, Shirley Oney, Brenda Trent and husband Wendall, and Jamie Clay, all of Olive Hill; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He retired after 40 years of service at Crane Plumbing and was a member of Dandridge Apostolic Church in Dandridge, Tennessee. David enjoyed attending church, spending time with his family, working crossword puzzles, and watching baseball. He was also an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Rick Crank. Burial will follow in Buckler Cemetery in Carter County.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
