David Emile Martinat, Sr., age 75, of Morehead, Kentucky, went to meet the Lord, Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at his residence.

He was born June 19, 1949, in Valdese, North Carolina, and was the son of the late Daniel and Edith Martinat.

David proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. He was a SP5 in the 1st Aviation Division. He was a member of the Morehead American Legion Post No. 126, and a member of Muses Mills Christian Church.

David retired from the Fleming County Board of Education in 1999, where he served as a custodian for Fox Valley Elementary School. He loved interacting with all of the children and made it a point to remember all of their names.

David is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Deborah Helterbrand Martinat, whom he married July 3, 1971; two sons, David Martinat II (Rhonda) of Olive Hill, and Bruce Martinat (Brittany Richardson) of Morehead; ten grandchildren, Michael Martinat (Rachel Crawford), Lukas Martinat, Elijah Martinat, Cody Martinat, Connor Martinat (Olivia), Ashley Martinat, Braeden Martinat, Mikaylah Stone, Danielle Stone, and Anthony Stone; one great grandson, Camden Martinat; one brother, Michael Daniel Martinat of Utah; his faithful canine companions, Harley and Holly; and countless friends and family who will miss him greatly.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Doug Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in Muses Mills Christian Church Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
