Darrell Ray Slusher, age 66, of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.
Born August 22, 1956, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Henry Slusher and Bertha Maynard Slusher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie Thurman and Tom Thurman and one sister, Jean Thurman.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mosetta Jean Cordle Slusher, whom he married October 16, 1976; six children, Laurenda (Jamie) Hanks of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, Darletta (Curt) Eldredge of Morristown, Tennessee, Heather Smith (Gerald Ammons) of Marion, Ohio, and Elena (Sergiu) Maliucov of Lincoln, California, Joseph (Branndi) Carpenter of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Michelle (Michael) Bolmer of Shiloh, Illinois; fourteen grandchildren, Nevaeh Forrester, Austin Slusher, Cameron and Brandon Eldredge, Meghan Shanyfelt, Felicia, Nesyra, Rumen, Oxana, Shamaya Maliucov, Hannah, Emily, and Jacob Carpenter, and Miracle Bolmer; and other extended family and friends.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the First Apostolic Church. Darrell at one time owned a car dealership and rental properties. He enjoyed wood working, piddling around, and spending time family, especially his grandchildren. Darrell was very loved and will be very missed.
Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Friday, March 10, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Daniel Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery on Jones Ridge with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post 126.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Friday, March 10, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
