Obituary

Darrell "Bud" Edmund Knepp, age 89, of Morehead, passed away Monday, October 27, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born April 30, 1936, in West Decatur, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late John Edmund Knepp and Elizabeth Violet Mann Knepp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Larry Knepp; a grandson, Elijah Blue Knepp; and a son-in-law, Eddie DeHart.

Bud is survived by his loving and devoted wife and caregiver of 53 years, Dolene Evans Knepp, whom he married on December 23, 1971; five sons, Duane (Patty) Knepp of Warren, Ohio, John (Gloria) Knepp of Tucson, Arizona, Bob (Jamie) Bowman of North Jackson, Ohio, Mike (Chrissie) Bowman of Austintown, Ohio, and Darrell (Michelle) Knepp Jr. of Hermitage, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Jamie DeHart of Morehead, Kentucky, and Darla (James) Gunter of Lillington, North Carolina; 26 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include one sister, Bette Mae Gilbert of Girard, Pennsylvania; a special caregiver and grandson, Jonathan Bowling; his loyal K-9 companion, a Schnauzer named "Asta," as well as extended family and many friends.

Bud was a hardworking man of many skills. In addition to the many trades he worked in throughout his life, he retired as an HVAC technician for Griffith Mechanical, where he worked for 18 years.  He enjoyed trading and attending trade days, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family—especially his beloved wife. Known affectionately as "the snake man," Bud was also remembered for his sense of humor, including the "poison ivy farm" sign by the road that read "Poison Ivy for Sale – Pick at Your Own Risk."

He was a member of Morehead Masonic Lodge 654.  Bud will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
