Obituary

Darlene Lewis Dewitt, age 77, of Meadowlands Drive, Morehead, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014, at her residence. Born January 3, 1937, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Madge Moore Lewis. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Larry Virgil Dewitt, and three brothers, Herman Edward Lewis, Jerry Dale Lewis, and Douglas Wayne Lewis. Darlene is survived by her husband of 59 years, Virgil Lee Dewitt, whom she married April 30, 1955; one son, David Lee (Cindy) Dewitt of Tipp City, Ohio; and two granddaughters, Angelia Dawn Dillon and Jessica Lynn Maxwell. Also surviving are three brothers, James Chalmer Lewis of Winchester, John Paul Lewis of Elliott County, and Dennis Robert Lewis of Morehead; six sisters, Shirley Evelyn Shay and Shelia Ruth Lewis, both of Clearfield, Judy Kay Cassara, Virginia May Moore, and Barbara Ann Kegley, all of Morehead, and Terri Lynn Lewis of Somerset; nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends. Darlene was a homemaker and a former employee of Phillips Industry in Dayton, Ohio. She attended Slab Camp Christian Church and Dry Creek Church of God, and enjoyed sewing, working crossword puzzles, and being with family. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Casey Whitt, John Moore, Jerry Stamper, Kevin McCarty, Dale Dewitt, Bobby Mabry, and Wayne Black. Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
