Darlene Winkleman Brown, age 70, of Winkle Ridge in Elliott County, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born June 17, 1946, in Sandy Hook, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Belle Winkleman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Brown; a son, Roger Dale Brown; five brothers, Fred, Ray, Paul, Roger, and Carl Winkleman; and three sisters, Thelma Winkleman, Dorothy Slusher, and Hazel Offutt. She is survived by one son, Scottie Brown of Elliott County; one daughter, Karen (Phil) Roznowski of Vine Grove; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Yvonne (Bill) Shults of Graceville, Florida, Diane (Tony) Hitch of Morehead, and Ava Sue (Junior) Hitch of West Liberty; one brother, Clayton Winkleman of Morehead; several nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. She was a homemaker and retired as a custodian from Morehead State University. Darlene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved playing bingo, going to the casino, traveling, cooking, gardening, and watching Days of Our Lives. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Arnold Ison officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery on Stamper Ridge in Elliott County. Pallbearers: Curtis Winkle, Bobby Howard, Buddy Allen Pennington, Melvin Brown, D. J. Rowland, and Joe Gilliam. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Saturday, February 25, 2017, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Sunday, February 26, 2017, at 2 p.m. Interment: Brown Cemetery, Stamper Ridge, Elliott County
