Obituary

Danny Ray Stamper, age 78, of Wildflower Lane, Morehead, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Pioneer Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Flemingsburg.

Born November 30, 1947, in Middletown, Ohio, Danny was a son of the late Asa Clayton Stamper and Alma Oldfield Stamper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tressa Baggett Stamper, in 2015.

Danny is survived by his loving family, including his son, Jamie Ray Stamper of Morehead; two daughters, Tami (Tony) Weis of Napoleon, Ohio, and Tracey (Billy) Weaver of Madison, Alabama; nine grandchildren, Tiffany (Jake) Reckner, Trey Ridenour, Emily Ridenour, Alexa Weaver, Lakyn Weaver, Blake Weaver, Abigail Jo (David) Clifton, Asa Stamper, and Bo Bryce Stamper; five great-grandchildren, Kayden Weis, Ally Reckner, Kasen Reckner, Ellie Reckner, and Addison Jo Clifton; one brother, Vernal Clayton Stamper of Middletown, Ohio; as well as many other relatives and dear friends.

Danny dedicated much of his life to the furniture business. He began working for the Barker family in 1963 at The Big Store Furniture Company and remained a faithful and hardworking part of the business for more than 60 years. In the early 1990s, he continued operating The Big Store, serving generations of customers with honesty, dedication, and a friendly smile. He remained active in the business until February 2025, when declining health required him to step away from the work he loved.

A devoted family man, Danny found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved caring for his dogs, watching classic Westerns, and creating lasting memories on family vacations. Danny will be remembered for his dedication and service to the community. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Stamper, Toby Gardner, Billy Weaver, Jake Reckner, Wes Prather, and Tony Weis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Bryce Stamper, Asa Clayton Stamper, Blake Weaver, and Danny's first responder friends.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, Kentucky 40351.

Danny will be remembered always for his dedication to family, his years of service to the community, and the countless lives he touched along the way.
