Obituary

Daniel David Jessie, age 87, of US 60 East, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born September 28, 1929, at Fleming Fork, in Carter County, he was a son of the late Estill Winfield Jessie and Faye Dana Carroll Jessie. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Duncan Jessie on July 24, 2000; one son, Harold Gene Jessie; one brother, Estill Jessie, Jr.; and two sisters, Mathel Jessie and Jennett Hinton. He is survived by one son, William David (Melissa) Jessie; one daughter, Joann (Jeff) Rhoden, all of Morehead; six grandchildren, Derrick Brown, Scott Brown, Natasha Ewing, Kaitlyn Rhoden, Brianna Jessie, and Emily Jessie; and two great grandchildren, Raymond Ewing and Derrick Dallas Jessie Brown. Other survivors include three sisters, Verna Wilson of Morehead and Sue (Carlos) Burton and Delma (Glennis) Sloane, all of Olive Hill; two brothers, Leonard (Juanita) Jessie of Plymouth, Ohio, and Coy (Joyce) Jessie of Olive Hill; special friends, Danny Tackett and Bobby Thomas; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. David was a former self-employed auto-body mechanic, logger, and worker in the clay mines. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and when he was able, he enjoyed trading and riding horses. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Bobby Day officiating. Burial will follow in Bowen Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers: Derrick Brown, Scott Brown, Jeremy Ewing, Carlos Burton, David Burton, and Eugene Glover. Honorary pallbearer: Anthony Jessie. Visitation is from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Saturday, January 28, 2017, 12 noon to 2 p.m. Funeral: Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Memorial Chapel Interment: Bowen Chapel Cemetery
