Obituary

Daniel Clifford 'Danny' Lewis, age 66, of Little Perry Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky, after a brief illness. He was born April 29, 1947, in Haldeman, Kentucky, a son of the late William M. and Jessie Dryden Lewis. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James R. Lewis, and one sister, Betty Click. Danny is survived by his wife, Amelia Sparks Lewis, whom he married on June 8, 1971; two sons, Nathan Lewis and his wife Julie of Lexington, Kentucky, and Matthew Lewis of Morehead. Other survivors include two brothers, Jack Lewis of Morehead, Kentucky, Paul Lewis of Clinton, Illinois, and one sister, Joyce Lewis of Morehead; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Danny was looking forward to his first grandson to be born next month, Kyle Daniel Lewis. Danny served 6 years with the 201st Engineer Battalion, Kentucky National Guard Unit based in Olive Hill, Kentucky. He was an Officer with Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement retiring with 20 years of service in 2007. One of the highlights of his career was being selected Police Officer of the Year by his peers. Danny was dedicated to his family, loved long rides on his Harley with the 'gang,' and enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Elder Cephas Littleton officiating. Burial will follow in the New Sill Cemetery with military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers: Tim Pritchard, Steve Rice, Billy DeHart, Kenny Ratcliff, Tim Blevins, and Gary Messer. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time, Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
