Cyrus Mercury Sloan Petronella, age 17, of Big Perry Road, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025, due to a tragic dirt bike accident.

He was born August 13, 2007, in Morehead, and is the son of Cory Petronella and wife Kelli and Nicosia "Nicki" Sloan-Petronella (Christopher Burton) all of Morehead.

In addition to his parents, Cyrus is survived by one sister, Isabella Jean Sloan Petronella of Morehead; two step brothers, Nicholas Finch of Olive Hill and Ash Finch of Morehead; paternal grandmother, Kim Watson of Morehead; maternal grandparents, Linda Campbell of Morehead and Perry Sloan of Preston; paternal step grandparents, Jackie and Cliff Gilliam of Morehead; maternal step grandmother, Susan Sloan of Preston; special grandparents, Harley and Gina Finch of Chesapeake, Ohio; and other extended family and many friends.

Cyrus was a junior at Rowan County Senior High School. He loved animals, especially his dog Lucy and enjoyed playing the guitar, riding his dirt bike, spending time outdoors and hanging out with his friends. Most of all, Cyrus loved spending time with his sister. His memory will be cherished forever by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Chuck Petronella; maternal grandfather, Harry Campbell; paternal step grandmother, Rosalia Petronella; and paternal step grandfather, Jeffrey Watson.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.  A memorial service will be held immediately following at 4 p.m. with Pastor Ben Furman officiating.
