Obituary

Curtis Ray Bowling, age 82, of Maher Drive, Morehead, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Elliott County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sandy Hook.

Born June 24, 1943, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Noah Bowling and Lillian Fultz Bowling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy Diane Thompson Bowling, on January 9, 2015; a son, Keith Ray Bowling, on June 24, 2023; seven brothers, Billy Bowling, Jimmy Bowling, Jerry Bowling, Arthur Bowling, Elmer Ray "Bub" Bowling, Dan Bowling, and Jack Bowling; three sisters, Joyce Baloo, Dorothy Williams, and Betty Adkins; and a great-grandson, Nolan Reece Hogg.

He is survived by two daughters, Krystal Bowling of Morehead and Karla Jones of West Liberty; five grandchildren, Joe Templeman, Brian Tyler Hogg, Brittany DeHart, Jacob Curtis Bowling, and Emily Ryan Bowling; and six great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by two brothers, John "Bull" Bowling and Kenny Bowling, both of Morehead; two sisters, Mary Murphy and Ruby Kay Keeton, both of Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Curtis was a dedicated farmer and a former employee of Spring Grove Dairy and A.O. Smith. For more than 45 years, he raised and cut tobacco and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors. He enjoyed playing poker, sharing stories with friends, and spending time with his family. His greatest joy was being with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A man of the Pentecostal faith, Curtis lived a life marked by hard work, kindness, and devotion to those he loved.  He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Sargent officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kaleb DeHart, Kayden McClanahan, Brandon McClanahan, Jamie Markwell, Tyler Hogg, and Jacob Bowling.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, Kentucky 40351.
