William Curtis (Curt) Pennington, age 90, of Christy Creek Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at his residence. He was born July 6, 1919, in Elliott County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Braxton Jason and Mary Jane Forest Pennington. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ferne James Pennington, whom he married October 26, 1940; one son, Gary C. Pennington of Chicago, Illinois; one daughter, Sharon Lewis of Morehead, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Nikki Janise Mabry, Michael Dann, and Chance Pennington; and four great grandchildren, Christian Mabry, Joshua Bradley, Cheyanne Dann, and Shay Dann. Also surviving are two sisters, Faye Burton of Dayton, Ohio, and Mozelle Kidd of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews. Curt served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired as a heavy equipment operator from General Refractories Company in Olive Hill, Kentucky. He was a member of Elliottville Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir. Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Claire Hospice, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351 or Alzheimer's Association, Kaden Tower, 6100 Dutchmans Ln., Ste. 401, Louisville, KY 40205-3284. Visitation: Friday, August 14, 2009, after 6 p.m. Funeral: Saturday, August 15, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. Interment: Brown Cemetery
