Corey Travis Maynard, age 32, of Salt Lick, formerly of Morehead, was born July 13, 1991, in Pikeville, and passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Melissia Charles Kirk and Eddie of Salt Lick; stepfather, Tim Maynard of Georgetown; one brother, Tyler Maynard of Morehead; one sister, Kenna Maynard Barker (Austin) of Mt. Sterling; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Amy Charles of Morehead; paternal grandmother, Anna Rhea Ray of Phelps; special niece and nephew, Charlie Maynard and Zander Barker; and a special sister-in-law, Amanda Maynard.
Other survivors include three uncles, Scooter Larry Charles (Melinda) and their children Easton and Maddux of Morehead, Steve Maynard (Lisa), and Joey Maynard (Angie), all of Georgetown; three aunts, Stephanie May (Keith), Sandy Marcum (Ran), and Sandy Bevins (Jim), all of Belfrey; special friends, Leslie and Whitney Slone and their children Landon and Rayla and Dawn Kissinger, all of Morehead; as well as cousins, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by two uncles, Buddy Charles and Kevin Maynard; maternal great grandmother, Juanita Charles; and paternal grandmother, Carol Kirk.
Corey was a graduate of Rowan County Senior High School. He loved eating, especially white chocolate Reese's Cups and being around people, most of all children and his Meme and Popaw. Corey also enjoyed listening to music, swimming, watching basketball, and traveling with family to destinations far and near, especially to watch his brother and sister play ball. Corey was happy and always had a beautiful smile to share. He was an inspiration to many as he fought his daily challenges. Corey was greatly loved and will live on in the memories of his devoted and loving family and special friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 5 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Larry Robinson officiating
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made payable to Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals to assist with funeral expenses.
