Obituary

Cora Oneida Cornett Caudill, age 86, of North Wilson Avenue, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at her home. She was born May 12, 1928, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Frank and Eunice Trent Cornett. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Trent Cornett, Charles Curtis Cornett, and James Attie Cornett, and one sister, Violet Walker. Oneida was also preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas 'Tommy' Caudill on November 21, 1979, and her son, Clifford Earl Caudill on January 9, 2012. She is survived by her son, James Thomas 'J. T.' Caudill and wife Melissa of Morehead; two grandchildren, Montana Marie Caudill of Morehead and Clifford James Caudill of Nicholasville; and one great grandson, Cameron Thomas Caudill of Morehead. Other survivors include two brothers, Lloyd Cornett and Virgil Cornett of Morehead; two sisters, Carolyn Goodpaster of West Liberty and Arlene Swanson of Springboro, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. Oneida graduated from Morehead High School in 1946. While in school, she worked at The Kentucky Restaurant and later at Cowden Mfg. and Mickey's Fabric Store. Oneida also worked out of her home as a seamstress. For many years, Oneida was a community volunteer. She was a 4-H Club leader, Cub Scout Leader, past president of the Rowan County Homemakers, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, an active volunteer with the Red Cross Blood Mobile, and a Morehead Senior Citizens volunteer for more than 25 years. Oneida was also a Kentucky Colonel, a 60-year member of the Eastern Star, and attended the Newfoundland Community Church in Newfoundland, Kentucky. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Caudill Cemetery on West Main Street, Morehead. Pallbearers: C. J. Caudill, Virgil Cornett, Danny Cornett, Jeremy Cornett, Robbie Criswell, Josh Johnson, Steve McKinney, and Elijah Sexton. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to St. Claire Hospice, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351 Visitation: Friday, February 20, 2015, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Saturday, February 21, 2015, at 1 p.m. Interment: Caudill Cemetery
