Coleene Hampton, 83, a longtime resident of Morehead, Kentucky, and a retired Morehead State University educator, passed away August 4, 2013, in Bryan, Texas. Her husband, Dr. William C. 'Bill' Hampton, whom she wed December 26, 1955, preceded her in death on April 22, 1984. Coleene is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth Duff and son-in-law Michael Duff of Bryan-College Station, Texas. Also, a sister, Bonnie Hammonds and sisters-in-law, Irene Francis and Dee Hampton Molina and husband Carlos; nephews, Bob Hammonds and friend Carla, Tom Hammonds and wife Cathy, Greg Ford and wife Carolyn, Wilson Francis and Betty Carol Francis; special grand nieces and nephews, Ashley, Amber, Vanessa, Thomas, Jon and Chris; and great grandnieces and nephew. Born November 16, 1930, in Hazard, Kentucky, Coleene was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Mary Branson, and her sisters, Lorene and Carol. Coleene taught at University Breckinridge School in Morehead, Kentucky, for many years. She loved and kept up with the numerous students she had the opportunity to educate. After her career at UBS, she taught Reading at Morehead State University, where she took great pride in instructing new teachers in one of the most important aspects of the curriculum: how to teach elementary children how to read. Following retirement, Coleene spent her time between Morehead and visiting Beth and Mike in Texas. She had become an avid fan of the Texas A&M Aggies Women's basketball team, as well as other teams in Aggieland. Graveside services and interment were held Sunday, August 11, 2013, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Morehead with family friend, Dustin Rose, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lothair Church of Christ, P.O.
