Coleen Yvonne Cartee Kelley, age 98, formerly of West Sun Street, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the home of her niece, Mary A. Parker Knipp, where she resided. Born March 31, 1920, in Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert E. and Mary J. Artis Cartee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Vada Joyce Parker and Georgia E. Rice, and a nephew, Jack E. Parker. Her husband, Chester T. Kelley, passed away on November 29, 2011. Coleen is survived by one niece, Mary A. Parker Knipp and her husband Austin; one nephew, Richard A. Parker and his wife Gary Eileen; and one niece-in-law, Ruby M. Parker, all of Morehead, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. Coleen and Chester moved to Morehead in 2010 following his retirement as a U.S. Naval Commander in 1963 and from Westinghouse after 39 years of service in Kansas City, Missouri, and Baltimore, Maryland. Coleen served as the church secretary at the Southern Baptist Church in Maryland and enjoyed quilting and sewing.
