Clyde Porter, age 70, of Christy Creek, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 16, 2013, from injuries sustained in a tractor accident in Elliott County, Kentucky. Born March 6, 1943, in Elliott County, he was a son of the late Nelson Porter and Opal DeHart Porter Fults. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Armott, Arlie, and Oscar Porter; two sisters, Jolene Johnson and Sarah Skaggs; several stepsisters; and stepfather, Romie Fults. Clyde is survived by his wife, Linda Jones Porter; two daughters, Clyda (Chris) Vermillion of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Brittany (Jason) Collins of Morehead, Kentucky; grandson, Rylan Collins; and granddaughter Vermillion expected in October. Also surviving are three brothers, Dr. Arvis (Betty) Porter and Donald Porter, all of Morehead, and Nelson Porter, Jr. of Elliott County; one sister, Lyda (Kenny) Skaggs of Elliott County; a stepsister, Virginia ('Doc' Roy) Murphy of Grayson; and several nieces and nephews. Clyde graduated from Morehead State University with a bachelor's degree in psychology and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was an insurance adjuster for various companies and later a commercial truck driver for Bush Leasing Company. An outdoors person, he greatly enjoyed gardening. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Carlos Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery in Elliott County with military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Nephews will serve as pallbearers: Greg Skaggs, William Skaggs, Brady Blevins, Kenny W. Skaggs, Richard Skaggs, Roger Porter, Andrew Jones, Philip Johnson, Jerry Johnson, Randy Skaggs, and Ronnie Salyers. Visitation is 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
