Clyde Edward Mayse, age 84, of Maplewood Avenue, Ypsilanti, Michigan, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026, at his home.

Born October 26, 1941, in Morehead, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Elbert and Marie Crum Mayse.  Besides he parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Mayse.

Clyde is survived by his son, Steven Mayse of Ypsilanti, Michigan; one grandson, Mitchell Mayse of Michigan; two brothers, Eugene Mayse of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Ray Mayse of Clinton, Michigan; four sisters, Darlene Mays of Winchester, Kentucky, Retha Davis of Morehead, Kentucky, Rella Evans of Richmond, Kentucky, and Barbara Mays of Morehead, Kentucky, as well as several nieces and nephews, other family members, and friends.

For more than twenty-five years, Clyde served as a dedicated supervisor of the custodial staff in the Ypsilanti school system. Outside of work, he treasured time spent with family and friends and enjoyed the excitement of horse and dog racing, especially the challenge of picking a winner. He also liked trying his luck with lottery tickets and looked forward to the possibility that each ticket brought.  Clyde will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by those whose lives he touched.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dave Evans officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mays Family Cemetery (11773 Brown Ridge) in Morehead,

Pallbearers will be Ray Mayse, Eugene Mayse, William Riddle, Dale Davis, Tim Davis and Stoney Mayse.

Visitation for Clyde Edward Mayse will be Friday, June 12, 2026, from 11 a.m. until the service hour at 1 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
