Clifford Christian Quisgard, age 79, of Cranston Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016, at his residence, surrounded by the love of his family. Born September 8, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was a son of Rolf Arnfin and Zelda Oline Graves Quisgard. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Rolf A. and Erik W. Quisgard. Cliff is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Phillys Joan Bledsoe Quisgard, whom he married at Stewart Air Force Base in Newburgh, NY in 1968; four daughters: Vicky (Bobby) Barker of Olive Hill, Ingrid (Carl) VanRooyen of Morehead, Sigrid (Rick) Turner of Morehead, and Erika Bailey of Morehead; ten grandchildren: Christopher (Sheana) and Brandi Barker, Alexa and Jacob VanRooyen, Kevin Ryan, Taylor, and Jordan Adams, Nick Turner, Travis Holbrook and Jayla Bailey; and five great grandchildren: Tayten and Danica Barker and Bryce, Kirsten, and Braylen Sublett. Other survivors include one sister, Ingrid Kearney of Tula, OK; many nieces and nephews; extended family members; and dear friends. Cliff retired from the Rowan County Board of Education as maintenance supervisor in 1992. Previously, he retired from the military in 1974 after 20 years in the U.S. Army and four tours in Vietnam as a helicopter maintenance mechanic and supervisor. A Godly person, he was a student of the Bible and spread God's word at every opportunity. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed camping, fishing, and rescuing dogs (which he then loved as his pets in his home.) Most of all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bro. David Gee officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
