Obituary

Clarence Bowling, age 83, of Old U.S. 60 East, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 23, 2009, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. He was born October 11, 1926, at Hitchens in Carter County, Kentucky, son of the late Manuel and Pearl Tackett Bowling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Emerson, Kelley and James Bowling; one sister, Martha Spradlin; and one daughter, Betty Ann Bowling Binion. Clarence is survived by his wife of 63 years, Hazel Marie Williams Bowling; one daughter, Joan Whitt of Estero, Florida; three sons, David Bowling of Grahn, Kentucky, Manuel Bowling of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Rex Bowling of Green Mountain, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Tommy Bowling of Huber Heights, Ohio, Donald J. Bowling of Springfield, Ohio, and Wayne Bowling of London, Kentucky, and three sisters, Arlene Cline of Springfield, Ohio, Christine Shields of Rockingham, North Carolina, and Dorothy Holland of Camden, Ohio. Clarence was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, a retired employee of General Refractories, and an Elder in the Limestone Apostolic Church. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Rick Crank officiating. Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Carter County with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Doug Buckner, Jeremy Bowling, Anthony David Blankenship, Bryant Shumate, Donnie Williams, and Carl Craft. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead, Kentucky. Visitation: Monday, October 26, 2009, from 5 to 9 p.m. Funeral: Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at 1 p.m. Interment: Garvin Ridge Cemetery
