Clara Nell Johnson McKenzie, age 86, of Water Street, Salt Lick, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012, at her home. She was born April 1, 1926, in Bath County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Martin and Ella Armstrong Johnson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Johnson and Hansford Johnson, and one sister, Avonia Crouch. Her husband of 51 years, Robert Sherwood McKenzie, passed away April 7, 1996, and their grandson, John Ryan McKenzie, on October 11, 2003. Mrs. McKenzie is survived by three daughters, Diana Kay Phillips and husband Justin of Salt Lick, Kentucky, Cindy Gail Cline and husband Randy of Owingsville, Kentucky, and Clara Joan Becraft and husband Steve of Olympia, Kentucky; six sons, Gary Dean McKenzie and wife Nisi, Robert Leo McKenzie and wife Rita, Dennis Jarrell McKenzie and wife Cheryl, William Martin McKenzie and fianc-e Julie, all of Olympia, Kentucky, and Mark Anthony McKenzie and Gregory Wade McKenzie, both of Salt Lick, Kentucky; 23 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. Other survivors include three sisters, Barbara Armstrong of Morehead, Kentucky, Opal Jones of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and Norma Charles of Salt Lick, Kentucky; one brother, Ronnie Johnson of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. McKenzie was a homemaker and member of Salt Lick Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Andy Lands officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
