Christopher Stewart Short, 44, of Fairview Avenue, Mt. Sterling, husband of Joy Wilson Short, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019, from injuries sustained in a crash on I-64 in Bath County. Born July 27, 1974, in Montgomery County, he is the son of Gary and Karen Oaks Short of Mt. Sterling. In addition to his wife of 22 years, Joy Wilson Short, and his parents, Chris is survived by four children, Benjamin Caleb Short (Bryanna), Caroline Elizabeth Short, Christopher Garrett Short, Conner Wilson Short, and one grandson, Blake Carter Short, all of Mt. Sterling. Other survivors include one sister, Melody Setters (Brent); two nephews, Patrick and Brody Setters; maternal grandmother, Carolyn Oaks; paternal grandmother, Virgaleen Karrick Short, all of Mt. Sterling. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Yaundell Oaks, and paternal grandfather, Paul Short. Chris was currently an employee of Kentucky Utilities, where he worked for 22 years. He graduated from Montgomery County High School in 1992 and attended Northwood University in Florida and the University of Kentucky. Chris was a member of Gateway Christian Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019, at the Gateway Christian Church with Uncle Bill Kilgore officiating. Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Sharpsburg. Pallbearers: Chris Lawson, Joe Veeneman, Anthony Myers, Wesley Lykins, Mark Collier, Tommy Wilson, Anthony Miracle, Rick Spencer.
