Obituary

Christine Black Rawlings, age 93, of Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Born December 23, 1916, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Henry J. Black and Sallie Choat Black. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Geneva Alfrey, Edith Filson, Eula Ford, Katherine Drouillard, and Billie Jean Butcher, and five brothers, Audrey Black, Clifford Black, John W. Black, Roy Gene Black, and Donald W. Black. Christine-s husband of 70 years, Suddith Rawlings, whom she married October 8, 1936, passed away January 5, 2007. She is survived by two sisters, Mabel Pickrell of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and Alpha Darlene Black of Kenton, Ohio; one brother, Dewie E. Black of LaBelle, Florida; a special nephew, Clarence Wallace; and a special great nephew, Robert Scott Wallace and his wife Joy. Christine was a homemaker and retired from Randall-Textron in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. She was a Christian for many years and last attended Sharkey Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 4 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010, at the Hutton Funeral Home with Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. and Brother James R. Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Morehead. Pallbearers will be Albert Prewitt, Roger Prewitt, Jerry Ravenscraft, Gerald Saunders, Tim Vice, and Harold Dean Sorrell. Visitation is from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010, and from noon until 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Kentucky. Visitation: Wednesday, July 7, 2010, 5-8 pm; and Thursday, 1-4 pm Funeral: Thursday, July 8, 2010, at 4 p.m. Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens
