Obituary

Chris Moore, age 47, of Thompson Springs, Utah, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011, at his residence. Born January 16, 1964, in Maysville, Kentucky, he is the son of Carolyn Sue Whitt Moore of Thompson Springs, Utah, and Wayne Edward Moore, who passed away January 17, 1977. In addition to his mother, Chris is survived by his wife, Tracey Jo Heckathorn, whom he married September 13, 2003, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado; a step-daughter, Jenessa Lynn Heckathorn; and a step-son, Tyson Harold Heckathorn. Other survivors include an uncle, Larry Whitt and wife Kathy of Morehead, Kentucky; three aunts, Ruth Gilkerson and Naomi Moore, both of Morehead, Kentucky, and Pauline White of Hillsboro, Kentucky; and two cousins, Amy Blevins and Emily Clarke, both of Morehead, Kentucky. In 1985 he and his mother moved to Moab, Utah. Chris worked for the National Park Service and the U.S. Forest Service most of his life. He enjoyed arch hunting and had authored books on where arches could be found in the area. He was a member of the National Arches and Bridge Society. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2011, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Ben Furman officiating.
