Charlotte Quillen Carter, age 83, of Timberwood Trail, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 27, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born August 5, 1924, in Ashland, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Carl Quillen, Sr., and Jeanette Clark Quillen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Warren G. Carter, on December 31, 1994; one daughter, Linda Diane Smith; one son, Timothy Lee Smith; one brother, Carl Quillen, Jr., and one sister, Margaret Quillen Stephens. Survivors include one son, Michael R. Smith of Morehead, Kentucky; three stepsons, Charles Cline Carter of Salina, Kansas, Warren Grant Carter of Grayson, Kentucky, and Wayne Keith Carter of Flatwoods, Kentucky; five grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker and a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a former L.P.N. at hospitals in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and at King-s Daughters Medical Center and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland, Kentucky. A St. Claire Medical Center Auxiliary volunteer for 14 years, Charlotte donated over 17,000 hours. She was extremely well known for the crosses she crocheted for newborns, Hospice and I.C.U. patients, and the deceased. She also enjoyed quilting and collecting sewing thimbles. She attended the First Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Starcher officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery. Great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
