Charles Edward Tackett, Sr., age 98, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 1, 2024.
Charles was born December 12, 1925, in Carter County, Kentucky, to the late William Robert and Lina Carroll Tackett.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He retired as a heavy equipment operator from Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Charles was a devoted Christian, serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He showed his faithfulness, love and dedication to the Mills Branch Apostolic Church, in Olive Hill, that he called his home church for several years. He enjoyed reading his Bible and being with his church family, worshiping as he would sing his favorite song, "I'd Rather Have Jesus," and giving his heartfelt testimonies proclaiming the goodness of God.
He enjoyed the view of God's wonderful creation and living his life to the fullest. Charles also enjoyed attending family reunions and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Kathleen Fisher Tackett, and his siblings, Gladys Binion, Lottie Smith, Othel Tackett, Blanch Carter, Aileen Duncan, Betty Duncan, Robert Tackett, and Garnett Mays.
He is survived by four sons, Charles Tackett Jr., (Kimberly) of Bellville, Michigan, Stephen (Christine) Tackett of Plymouth, Michigan, Myron (Sherry) Tackett of Elgin, Oklahoma, and Randy (Margaret) Tackett of York, South Carolina; one daughter, Michelle (Wayne) Braden of New Boston, Michigan; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Patton of Olive Hill, as well as several nieces and nephews, extended family, church family and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Mills Branch Apostolic Church in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Pastor Austin Collins and Elder Larry Joe Ruley officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Park with military honors. Family and church family will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2024, and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Mills Branch Apostolic Church, 376 Mills Branch Road, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
