Charles Lee Staton, 77, of rural Shelby, Ohio, passed away Monday, January 16, 2012, in Ft. Pierce, Florida, after a brief illness. Born February 10, 1934, in Morehead, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Ray Staton and Opal Tackett Staton. Charles is survived by his wife of 43 years, Maxine Ison Staton, whom he married August 17, 1968; his children and stepchildren, Cleah (Rodney) Easterling, Leah Parrish, Vondal (Wanda) Gose, Rhonda (Wayne) Muse, and Damon Staton, all of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Jeanna (James) Criswell Corey and Teresa (Walaa) Solimon of Ft. Pierce, Florida, Rick (April) Staton of Bellefontaine, Ohio; one brother and three sisters, Junior Staton, Ruth Corlett, Wilma Brown and Barbara Lykins, all of Shelby, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. Mr. Staton retired from Tech-Form Industries in Shelby with more than 35 years of service, was a part-time farmer and loved to coon hunt. Charles and Maxine had been foster parents to over 75 children through the Ohio Children-s Services Program. He was a member of the Church of God and attended Jeffersonville Assembly of God when in Kentucky. The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Rev. Edward Legg, Shelby, Ohio, and Pastor Robbie Conn, Jeffersonville, Kentucky, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation is 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky. Visitation: Friday, January 20, 2012, from 6-9 p.m. Funeral: Saturday, January 21, 2012, at 2 p.m. Interment: Mt. Hope Cemetery
