Charles Douglas "Doug" McBrayer, age 79, of State Highway 174, Olive Hill, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born July 21, 1944, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Harvey E. McBrayer and Anna Margaret Perkins McBrayer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, John Douglas McBrayer, and two sisters, Edna Roe and Reba Davis.
Doug is survived by three daughters, Mary Alfrey of Clearfield, Smantha McCoy (Dylan) of West Liberty, and Susan Helmondollar (Charlie) of Ashland; a special friend, Matilda Everman of Olive Hill; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Other survivors include two brothers, John McBrayer (Linda) of Morehead and Edmond McBrayer (Mary Ann) of Wabash, Indiana; several nieces and nephews; and his church family and friends.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam and was a graduated of Morehead State University with a bachelor's degree in history. Doug was a computer engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, Nebraska, and was an artist.
He was a member of New Beginnings West Ministry in Olive Hill. Doug enjoyed art, attending church, fishing, and watching Mountain Men on television. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at McBrayer Cemetery on Oak Grove Road, Morehead, KY 40351 with Pastor Jason Lewis officiating. Full military honors will be presented by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at New Beginnings West Ministry, 344 Perry's Branch Tabernacle Road, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
