Charles Dexter Howard, age 79, of Fox Road, Jeffersonville, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010, at his residence. Born December 4, 1930, in Lee County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Alex and Florence Combs Howard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Vice. Dexter is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean Trimble Howard; a daughter, Kim Sallie and husband J.R.; a son, Rick Howard and wife Joy; and two grandsons, Ryan Sallie and Noah Sallie, all of Jeffersonville, Kentucky. Other survivors include a sister, Mary Vice of Lexington, Kentucky; a half sister, Jean Stivings of Ohio; an uncle, Bob Howard of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. Dexter served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a retired farmer and member and deacon of the Macedonia Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010, at the Macedonia Baptist Church with Brother Kevin Strausbaugh and William Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Machpelah Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 7625 Levee Road, Jeffersonville, KY.
