Obituary

Charles Houston 'Chuck' Greene, age 87, of Hogge Street, Clearfield, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Windsor Care Center in Mt. Sterling. He was born March 22, 1927, in Norwood, North Carolina, son of the late Robert L. Greene and Kesta Howard Greene. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, M. E. Poplin and Evelyn Leslie, and one brother, Jack Greene. Chuck is survived by three daughters, Vickie Lowe and husband Jeff of Vancouver, British Columbia, Melanie Bonta of Salt Lick, and Lynette Gillespie and husband Jeff of Morehead; two sisters, Julia Whitley of Norwood, North Carolina and Jo Larson of Orem, Utah; four grandchildren, Andrea Lowe, Courtney Lowe, Kendra Armstrong, and Adam Sizemore; one great grandson, Zachary Armstrong; two step grandsons, Ryan Gillespie and Owen Gillespie; one step great granddaughter, Sydney Gillespie; the mother of his children, Shirley Ann Greene of Owingsville; and several nieces and nephews. Chuck served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Morehead American Legion Post No. 126 and had attended Johnson First Church of God. He enjoyed reading, working puzzles, playing board games, carpentry, and spending time with his family. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Jeff Gillespie, Jeff Lowe, Adam Sizemore, Rob Armstrong, Tim Stevens, and Logan Young. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Sunday, June 22, 2014, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral: Monday, June 23, 2014, at 11 a.m. Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens
