Charles C.
Alley
Oct 27, 1933 — Oct 31, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Charles C. Alley, age 85, of Morehead, announces his passing on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at the Life Care Center of Morehead where he received excellent care during the past several months. He was born on October 27, 1933, in Farmers, KY. Charles was raised on a farm and worked tirelessly alongside his family to run the farm throughout his childhood and into adulthood, even after he started his career. He was also an Army Veteran and served during the Korean War. Charles started his teaching career at Central Junior High in 1960 and worked there as an Industrial Arts teacher for 27 years. He also spent summers doing carpentry and running the projector at the Xenia drive in. Charles enjoyed spending time gardening and wood working and had a great talent for both. He had a special ingenuity and creativity when it came to his projects. After retiring and moving back to the farm, he was able to devote more time to his gardening and was involved in his local farmers' market. Above all, though, he loved being "papaw." He was preceded in death by his father, Horton Alley, and his mother, Myrtle (Montgomery) Alley and is survived by his sister, Karen (Alley) Caudill of Morehead. Charles will be lovingly remembered by his children, Mary "Aleta" (Bill Wheeler) Alley of Catlettsburg, William "Billy" (Missy) Alley of Xenia, Ohio, Anna "Jeanne" (Chris) Washburn of Xenia, Ohio, and his nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered by so many people whose lives he touched. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Memorial Chapel with Dr. Billy Noble officiating. Burial will follow at Cassity Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Legion members will also serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
