Obituary

Catherine Kissick Jackson, age 87, of Morehead Road, Wallingford, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead surrounded by her family. Born February 12, 1928, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Omar and Margaret Sorrell Kissick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Strong. Catherine is survived by her husband of 65 years, Paris Jackson, Jr.; one son, Joseph Alan (Jill) Jackson of Morehead; two daughters, Deborah Jackson (Jack) McBrayer of Morehead, and Mary Farr of Wallingford; five grandchildren, Rebekah (Robin) Rice, Emily Jackson, Michael Farr, Nicholas Farr, and Kristina Farr; and one great granddaughter, Catherine Leslie 'Kate' Rice. Also surviving are three sisters, Viola Powers of Lexington, Pauline (Omer) Brown of Morehead, and Joan (Tom) Moser of Stanford, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jackson was a homemaker who was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed art, music, genealogy, watching NASCAR and the Cincinnati Reds, and was also an excellent seamstress. For the past year, the light of her life had been her great granddaughter and namesake, Catherine 'Kate' Rice. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Michael Powers and the Rev. Darry Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Jackson Cemetery on Maxey Flat Road. Pallbearers: Michael Farr, Nicholas Farr, Robin Rice, Matt Foudray, Tim James, and Brad Mercer. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
