Obituary

Catherine Delilah "Cathy" Cloyd, age 59, of Whispering Oaks, Morehead, passed away Friday, August 14, 2020, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

She was born December 6, 1960, in Morehead, a daughter of the late Norma Jane Crager Cloyd, who passed away May 14, 2018, and the late Tinsley M. Cloyd, Sr.   She was also preceded in death by her brother, Tinsley M. Cloyd, Jr.

Cathy is survived by one sister, Melissa Cloyd Carter and husband Odell Morris of Harrodsburg; three nephews, DeWayne, Clayton, and Cameron Carter; two nieces, Mary Carter and Misty Bray and her husband Nathaniel, who are expecting a "little blessing" to arrive on Cathy's birthday.

Other survivors include one uncle, Fred T. Crager, and cousins, Tammy, Sonny, and Cindy Crager, Fred, Jr., and Stephen Crager, Melanie O'Neil and Amanda Crager, as well as extended family and friends.

Cathy graduated from Rowan County High School and received a Bachelor of University Studies from Morehead State University.  A former employee of the Kentucky State Department of Social Insurance, the Morehead Utility Plant Board, and the Rowan County Public Library, she was currently a teller at Kentucky Bank.  She also had worked with Gateway Head Start and the Senior Community Service Employment Program in Morehead.   Cathy enjoyed nearly all outdoor activities—hiking with family and friends was one of her favorite pastimes as was making the outdoors around her beautiful.  The flowers she nurtured and loved could tell stories as far back as her grandmother's flower gardens.  She also enjoyed campfires, sharing memories, and watching U.K. basketball.
