Carol Ann Smedley Cook, age 50, of Short Street, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009, at her residence. She was born November 12, 1958, in Rowan County, Kentucky, daughter of Evalee Wilder Smedley of Morehead, Kentucky, and the late Murlin Clifton Smedley. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Carroll, and one brother, Kenneth David Smedley. Her husband, James Gould Cook, preceded her in death on April 2, 2003. In addition to her mother, Carol is survived by one son, Michael Shane Adkins-Cook of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one daughter, Jatonda Lee Ousley and husband John of Soldier, Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Courtney Owens, Tayton Ousley, and Kaden Adkins. Also surviving are two brothers, Michael Smedley of Haldeman, Kentucky, and James Smedley and special sister-in-law, Kathy, of Soldier, Kentucky, and two sisters, Gail Hussey of Bath County, Kentucky, and Teresa Lee of Olive Hill, Kentucky. Carol was a homemaker and fun-loving person who enjoyed life and making others happy. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Leonard Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Brandon Lee, Joseph Lee, Larry Mynhier, Michael Smedley, Jr., Billy Jones, Kenneth Wagoner, and Shane Adkins. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Monday, July 27, 2009, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at 1 p.m. Interment: Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olive Hill, KY
