Carma 'Jean' Eldridge, of Oney Hollow, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland following injuries received in an automobile accident on December 24, 2015. She was born September 10, 1933, at home in Hilda, Kentucky, to the late Preston and Lillie Pence Eldridge. Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Roscoe and Charles 'Pete' Eldridge; and six sisters, Mary Brown, Anna Fraley, Clara Ozine Goodman, Frieda Crumb, Lula Kiser, and Verna Alene Riddle. Carma is survived by a beloved daughter, Donna Christoffel Bennington and husband Kevin of Xenia, Ohio; three grandchildren, Lee Ann, Andrea, and Jacob; four great grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley Blevins and husband Earl of Glasgow, Kentucky. She is also survived by a large number of nieces and nephews, as well as a host of church friends that will deeply miss her. As a young woman, Carma worked a variety of jobs. She worked at a garment manufacturing company in Olive Hill and 12 years for Cowden Manufacturing Company in Morehead. Carma also worked several years as a housekeeper for the families of Bud and Betty Stucky and Harold and Barbara White and was the full-time caregiver for her elderly mother and handicapped sister who were both bedridden before their deaths. Carma had followed the Baptist faith her entire life, first with the United Baptist and in later years the Old Regular Baptist. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday, August 21, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder Arthur Mathis, Elder Sam Frye and Elder Gary Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the Eldridge Cemetery on Bullfork Road. Pallbearers will be Jacob Bennington, Mike Brown, Farrell Howard, Kevin Blevins, Ted Eldridge, and Lennie McDavid. Visitation is 5 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016, and a special service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday with Elder Kevin Blevins, Elder Paul Jones, Elder Jeff Lewis, and Elder Doug Lewis officiating.
