Carl Edward Winzer, Sr., age 79, of Maysville, Missouri, passed away Friday, July 2, 2010, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Missouri. Born July 12, 1930, in Spring Grove, Indiana, he was the son of the late Charles Augustus Winzer and Edith Oda Baker Winzer. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Winzer Belcher, and one brother, Charles Winzer. Carl is survived by his wife, LaVerne Wooten Winzer; one son, Carl E. Winzer, Jr., of Coeour D Alene, Idaho; three grandchildren, Sara Winzer, Rebecca Winzer, and James Winzer. Also surviving are several brothers- and sisters-in-law, Clifford (Darlene) Wooten, Sam (Brenda) Wooten, Sharon Blevins, and Beverly Chapman, all of Morehead, Kentucky, Charles (Peggy) Wooten of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Dave (Joan) Wooten of Muncie, Indiana, and Clyde Wooten of Richmond, Indiana. Mr. Winzer served in the U.S. Army 529th FAOB from 1951-1953. He was a certified mechanical engineer and spent most of his working years in California retiring from the Boeing Corporation and prior to that working for Rockwell International. One of his most interesting endeavors was assisting in the design of Disneyland. He was extremely active in an Al-Anon group he started in Cameron, Missouri, and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Carl was a Christian of the Protestant faith. Funeral services will be conducted 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Earlham Cemetery in Richmond, Indiana. Visitation for Carl Edward Winzer is from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
