Carl Wayne Riley, 84, of Patties Lick, Morehead, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2025, at UK St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead surrounded by his loved ones.
Born March 7, 1941, in Carter County, he was the son of the late William and Zola Fultz Riley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dixie Moore Riley; three brothers, Clifford Riley, Larry Riley, and Gary Riley; one sister, Clista Riley Adkins; and a stepson, Tommy Buckner.
Carl is survived by his wife of 18 years, Alva Miller Riley, whom he married on August 7, 2006; one son, Maddix Buckner; two daughters, McKena Hertle and Alexia Buckner; two stepdaughters, Delrita Buckner and Pamela McKinney (Chuck), all of Morehead; five step-grandchildren, Jonathan Mayo, Addison Buckner, Erika Oakley (Joe), Gabriel Oakley, and Heather Buckner (Johnny Powell); and four step-great-grandchildren, Gus Oakley, Eden Powell, Enoch Powell, and Caden Oakley.
He is also survived by three brothers, Oscar Riley, Donnie Riley, and Allen Riley, all of Morehead, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Carl was a minister of the Apostolic faith and a former mechanic for Harold White Lumber Company, where he worked for 17 years. He loved singing, playing guitar, and spending time with family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel, with Brother Joe Riley and Brother Jim Schmauch officiating. Burial will follow in Fultz Cemetery on Bethel Ridge in Carter County.
Pallbearers will be Gabe Oakley, Joseph Shofner, Jonathan Mayo, Eddie Riley, Wes Andrews, and Rick Melton.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
