Carl Madison Pelfrey, age 79, of Bratton Branch, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 8, 2008, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. He was born January 28, 1929, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Ernest and Bertha Stidam Pelfrey. Carl is survived by his wife of 60 years, Faye Davis Pelfrey; three sons, Carl Pelfrey, Jr. and Steven Pelfrey both of Morehead, Kentucky, and Vernon Pelfrey of Ewing, Kentucky; one daughter, Carole Swanson of Southerland, Virginia. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Cindy Pelfrey, Clineon Paul Pelfrey, Erica Swanson, Megan Pelfrey, Stephanie Pelfrey; four great grandchildren, Tiffany Turner, Amy Turner, Zachary Turner and Layne Pelfrey; and one sister, Wilma Coldiron of Morehead, Kentucky. Carl served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, owned and operated Pelfrey-s Pay Lake, and was a member of Sharkey Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Warren Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clineon (Slugger) Pelfrey, Joe Caskey, Ricky Davis, Roger Davis, Larry Coldiron, and Gary Coldiron.
