Carl Franklin 'Joe' Hatfield, age 68, of Peru, Indiana, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015, with his family by his side. Born February 20, 1947, in Hillsboro, he was a son of the late John and Anna Hatfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Audrey (Lloyd) Taylor and Sereta (James) Isaacs, and one brother, John Hatfield, Jr. He is survived by his life partner, Nino Brooks of Peru, Indiana; one daughter, Patricia (Michael) Winkler of Burleson, Texas; one son, Carl (Shannon) Hatfield, Jr. of Van Buren, Indiana; and three grandchildren, Jordan Hatfield, Madison Hatfield, and Hailey Winkler. Also surviving is one sister, Kathy (Clarence) Swain of Gas City, Indiana; one sister-in-law, Glenna Hatfield of Marion, Indiana; best friend, Jeff (Carolyn) McCormick of Columbia City, Indiana; and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. Carl was a U.S. Army veteran and the recipient of the two Purple Hearts, Bronze Star, Medal of Heroism and service medal. He retired from Chrysler after 30 years of service. He was a member of the UAW 685, American Legion, and VFW. He was an adoring family man who enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and was recognized for his achievements in Boone and Crockett and the Pope and Young publications. Funeral services will be conducted 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at Hutton Funeral Home with Brother Richard Engle officiating. Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
