Obituary

Carl H. Eldridge, age 63, of Bayou Lane, Salt Lick, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at his residence. Born May 3, 1948, in Elliott County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Robert and Nannie Ball Eldridge. Carl is survived by two sons, Jonathan Eldridge and his wife Heather of Morehead, Kentucky, and Joshua Eldridge of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, and their mother Patricia; one brother, Robert Eldridge, Jr., of Magnolia, Kentucky; and two sisters, Wilma Hutchinson of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, and Charlotte Morgan of Fairborn, Ohio. Carl served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1968-70 and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals. He was an EMT with the Elliott County Ambulance Service from 1972-74 and from 1976-78 and served five terms as Elliott County Coroner. A 1992 honor graduate of Mid-America College of Mortuary Science, he was a member of Pi Sigma Eta Fraternity. A former employee of Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill, and Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, Carl founded the Eldridge Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, in 1994. In addition to his public service, Carl was also well known for being a motorcycle enthusiast who joyfully logged thousands of miles. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Scott Litton officiating. Burial will follow in the Eldridge Family Cemetery in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Pallbearers: Jonathan Eldridge, Joshua Eldridge, Robert Eldridge, Jr., Justin Kidd, David Ferguson, and Jimmie Walton. Visitation is on Friday, January 6, 2012, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
