Obituary

Carl Alley (C. A.) Cassity, age 84, of Zilpo, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 10, 2009, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. He was born July 3, 1925, in Farmers, Kentucky, son of the late Joseph Cassity, Sr., and Flora Alley Cassity. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Jr. Cassity and Hobert Lewis Cassity. C. A. is survived by his loving wife, Joan Spence Cassity, whom he married October 14, 1967; and his three daughters whom he adored: Carmen Cassity of Clearfield, Kentucky, Kari Cassity of Morehead, Kentucky, and Connie Cassity of Salt Lick, Kentucky. He graduated from Breckinridge Training School and received a degree in business administration from Morehead State University. He served his country as a U.S. Army Corporal during World War II and retired as General Superintendent of Midwestern Gas Transmission Company in Vincennes, Indiana, after 38 years of service. He and Joan moved back to the family farm at Zilpo following his retirement, where C. A., once again, enjoyed being outdoors whether clearing brush or taking walks with his faithful dog, Drooper. He also loved his granddogs, golfing, fishing and hunting moose. C. A.-s sense of humor and zest for life and for his family sustained him until the very end. He was a devoted and compassionate husband and father. He was a member and former Elder of Farmers Christian Church. C. A. will be sadly missed by all of those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2009, at Farmers Christian Church with Brother Bill Teegarden and Dr. Jack Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Carey Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Bob Spence, Jake Janzen, Roy Dale Byrd, Jason Caudill, Earl Heidtman, Rick Stalder, and Danny Brotherton. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, KY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Farmers Christian Church, 100 KY 801 South, Morehead, KY 40351.
