Calvin Ray Lytle, age 78, of Cincinnati Branch, Morehead, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center. Born January 7, 1939, in Maysville, he was the son of the late Novenda Elrod and Raymond H. Lytle. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elwood Lytle; his wife, Anna Lee Switzer Lytle, who passed away on November 17, 2016; and their beloved son, Roy Lee Lytle on February 26, 2010. Calvin Ray is survived by two children: Janie Lytle Davenport and Raymond Thomas "Tommy" Lytle, both of Morehead; 6 grandchildren, Tom Ray Lytle, Rebecca Lytle Thomas, Lester Raymond Deem III, Houston Neal Davenport, Elizabeth LeeAnn Davenport, and Brittany Michelle Allen; 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Nick Lytle of Morehead; one sister, Nan Wells of Morehead; extended family members; and many friends. Calvin Ray graduated from Morehead High School, worked in the family owned business, and served in the U.S. Air Force before he and Ann moved to Rudyard, Michigan. While in Michigan, their children-Janie, Tommy and Roy Lee-were born in Sault Ste. Marie and the family returned to Morehead in 1959. Calvin Ray worked at Ray's Saveway and was elected to public office, serving one term as Rowan County Coroner and two terms as Magistrate. In the early 80s, he opened Ray's Service Station in Farmers and in the 90s worked for Pathways for nearly 20 years before retiring. He and Ann (Grandma Sugars) enjoyed Saturday morning breakfasts for all the family. Calvin Ray also loved buying and eating Amish transparent pies, watching John Wayne movies, and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bro. David Muncy officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, July 2, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
