Byron "Butch" Lyons

Byron “Butch” Lyons, age 74, of Corbin, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Baptist Health Corbin.

Born February 24, 1952, in Henry County, Indiana, he was the son of the late Clyde Elwood Lyons and Edna Juanita Thomas Lyons.

Butch is survived by his two children, Allie Jane Lyons of Lexington and Marshall Scott Lyons (Tami) of Louisville, his brother, Kennie Allen Lyons of Morehead, as well as many other extended family and friends.

Butch retired from Shook Construction as a cement mason and foreman after many years of service. He also formerly worked as a brick mason, block mason, owned his own fireplace business, and built several homes during his career. He was proud of the structures he built over the years, especially his former home in Morehead.

In his free time, Butch was an avid outdoorsman; he especially enjoyed fishing, marksmanship, and maintaining a perfect lawn. He also enjoyed billiards, cooking, baking, and telling stories. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his children.

Butch will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was truly one of a kind.

There will be a visitation for family and friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.

As we all know, Butch was happiest while eating and telling stories with those he loved. To celebrate his life, we will be doing just that! Immediatley following the visitation, family and friends are invited to gather at the Haldeman Community Center, 4399 Open Fork Road, Morehead, KY 40351 for a meal and to tell fish tales.
