Burness D. Buckner, age 85, of Whispering Pines, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Ridgeway Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owingsville, Kentucky. He was born February 28, 1927, in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Lloyd and Lola Ison Buckner. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Jack Buckner, Clyde M. Buckner, Tom Buckner, Oleta Buckner Carroll, and Nettie Jean Buckner. Burness is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Sue Smith Buckner; one daughter, Vanessa Jean McIntosh and husband Leonard of Clearfield, Kentucky; two brothers, Forrest Ray Buckner and Ronald C. Buckner of Morehead, Kentucky; three sisters Eva White, Geneva Brown, and Linda Ginter, all of Clearfield, Kentucky; and special friend, Sarah Adkins. Burness was a planer for Homer Gregory Lumber Company for 65 years. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Paris Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckner Cemetery. Pallbearers: Terry Brown, Tommy Buckner, Larry White, Noah Stidam, Leonard McIntosh, and Johnny Ginter. Honorary pallbearers: Josh Brown, Randy Thomas, Micky White, Tab Brown, Ty Brown, Scott Ledford, and Estill Smith. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
