Burley Markwell, Jr., age 84, of Clearfield, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015, at his home after an extended illness. Born February 22, 1931, in Clearfield, he was a son of the late Burley and Georgia Lee Howerton Markwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Lee Markwell and Harold Markwell. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Stella Bentley Markwell, whom he wed April 28, 1955; two sons, Danny Markwell and Johnny Markwell and his wife Terrie, and one daughter, Shari Cornett and husband Cecil, all of Morehead. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Ashley Bowen, Ryane Davis, Ambria Bailey, Sancha Ferrell, and Kaylia Zancan, and five great grandchildren, Douglas Bailey, Abby Bailey, Ashton Bailey, Christopher Markwell, and Chance Ferrell. Burley was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a former employee of Lexington Concrete Products and Ray L. White Lumber Company. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Funeral services will be private at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bro. Gerald Saunders and John Northcutt officiating.
